Truth. Each of us has our own individual truth. Often though, our individual truth overlaps with those around us who love and support us. How we deal with this overlap, how we maintain our individuality and still remain open to another's truth is what this edition of Femme: the Magazine is about.

For years Femmes have talked among themselves about the growing phenomena of "Butch Flight." As we tried to remain supportive of our Butches in transition, we worried about our own fate in that truth. Until recently our concerns, hopes and fears have remained our secret. However, it is time to start to talk openly with our Butch and FtM brothers, to open up the lines of communication. Though we must remain supportive it is time to address how transitioning affects Femmes.

It is important for those in transition to remain open to us, to hear our fears, to face them and to understand them. There is a great fear that we are losing our Butches to transition. Some even believe that "Butch" is a dying breed. As a Femme attracted to masculine females who identify as Butch, this worries me. Yet, I want to understand and remain supportive of those who would transition.

There are many questions, that my Femme sisters have... How does transition affect our Femme identites? How does transition affect our community at large? Does transitioning buy into the notion that male is better than female masculity? Do all those who transition move forward without regret? I could go on, but the questions are too many with answers too complicated to address here.

In this issue, we attempt to get the dialogue started and not just among our Femme sisters but to also include our Butches and FtMs brothers.

I hope that all of you will help us get the conversation started. Visit our forum and let's start talking!
